Robert L. PipkinsThis section of my website is about the two most influential men in my life and the importance of having a father. The two most influential men in my life are my father, Robert L. Pipkins, a loving compassionate man. The other is Mr. Khalaf Khalaf, my best friend's father. Now my father has a patient, loving, and caring compassionate heart. He expresses his love the best way he knows how and he's always taken care of me. As a child I remember my father taking me to the beach, playing Lego's with me, and visiting all the theme parks and museums. We played checkers, scrabble, and even wrestled together. He invested a lot of time into my upbringing and I appreciate him for that. Having my father gave me an advantage in life over many of my friends. He gave me a sense of confidence. A lot of my friends did not know their fathers or their fathers did not take a lot of interest in their upbringing.

In da hood there is a lot of fatherlessness. I counted myself lucky and eventhough my father did not live with me he still took me places every weekend and I'd stay with him for a couple of weeks here and there. It was great just to have that example of manhood. My father went to work everyday. I cannot recall a day that my dad stayed home because he was sick or because he wanted the day off. The only time he didn't work is when he was laid off. So I thought I was supposed to work too. I think my father has that type of work ethic because his father died when he was young and he had to pick up the slack as the oldest male in the family.
